Software
Apple Macintosh is our preferred platform. We use the following applications:
Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. We do accept
QuarkXPress files, although it is not recommended since it is mainly a page
layout application. Please do not use QuarkXPress for complex artwork! PC
files in the same applications as the Mac will work as well. Do not send
files in any word processing applications (i.e. Excel, Microsoft Word).
Media
We can accept the following media: 3.5" floppies, 100MB Zip disks, CD-ROMs
We also accept artwork via e-mail, send to our address
tablabel@tablabel.com
Fonts
Be sure to send all screen and printer fonts used in your artwork. Include
any fonts used in graphic files placed into your design as well. Avoid using
any True Type fonts. You can convert the type to outlines if you are unable
to send us the fonts. Use boldface Sanserif fonts on type sizes below 6
points. Make sure "®" and "T" marks are large and bold enough to reproduce in
a readable manner, especially in reverse printed areas. Pay attention to type
embedded in placed graphics that have been reduced.
Graphic Basics
Make sure all Photoshop images are saved in CMYK mode, not RGB, and are at
least a minimum of 300 dpi. Images should be scaled and cropped accordingly
before being placed in your artwork. (Example: Do not import a 4" x 5"
Photoshop file into your final artwork when you are only using a 2" square
area of the image. This takes up unnecessary space and prolongs proofing and
imagesetting.) Do not embed graphics in your artwork, please keep them as a separate link.
Lines should not be less than 1/2 point (no hairline rules). If artwork is
reduced from original size, make sure lines still read at 1/2 point after
change. Copy and graphics should be placed no less than 1/8" inside the die
cut. All artwork with bleed should extend 1/16" out from die cut.
Colors
All colors need to be properly defined as process or spot (do not use RGB
colors). Please delete all unused colors from the color palette. Set all
colors to knockout, TAB label will set all overprints and traps in our Art
dept.
Screens
Screens may range from 100% to a minimum of 2%. Please try to use gradient
screens rather than blends. When using gradient screens, make sure all colors
in the gradient have at least a 2% value throughout the entire gradient. Any
screen values running below 2% may not reproduce on the final printed label
creating a hard edge effect.
Miscellaneous
If you would like us to scan any image or logo for you, please make sure it
is clean, B/W artwork (enlarged if possible). No transparencies or film.
If your art file is sent to us via e-mail please FAX or send a hard copy
proof showing correct layout, placement of linked graphics and color
separations.
